Club Rules

General Regulations

The International Club Berlin is a private club with a personal atmosphere in which our members and their guests may pursue business and private contacts with one another in a confidential setting. For this reason we request that the following rules and guidelines be respected:

Our members, their family members and guests use the International Club Berlin and its facilities at their own risk. The Club assumes no liability for accidents, losses or injuries while using Club facilities. It is recommended that all members obtain sufficient insurance protection for themselves and their families.

The playing of radios in the Club and the consumption of food and beverages brought in from outside is not allowed.

As far as possible, mobile telephones should not be used in the Club House or on the terraces.

Animals are not permitted anywhere in the Club premises.

Photography and filming are allowed only for private purposes; this applies to the entire Club premises. Photography and reporting on behalf of the press or for press use are only permitted following consultation with the Board.

Dress Code in the Club House

Members and guests are expected to dress smartly and this should be a matter of course. National dress and uniforms may be worn at all times. As a matter of principle, the Club's standing and the fostering of tradition are deemed of paramount importance.

The wearing of trainers or overly casual leisurewear or bathing attire within the Club House or on the adjoining terraces should be avoided.

The tennis courts may only be used wearing appropriate footwear and - primarily white - tennis dress. After leaving the tennis courts, please do not enter the pool area, the Club House or the adjacent changing rooms with soiled shoes.

Parental Supervision

The International Club Berlin is a club which encourages and empathizes with families and children. In the interest of all members and guests, an atmosphere of consideration to others is of paramount importance. It is the responsibility of parents to inform their children of the rules and regulations in force and to ensure their adherence to the same. The Club will hold parents liable for damages caused by their children.

Unless they are attending tennis lessons, children under 14 years of age may enter the Club only when accompanied by their parents or an adult representative appointed by name in advance. The tennis coaches can make exceptions for the tennis courts.

Rules and Regulations for the Pool, the Lawn Areas and the Playground

Pool guests are expected to behave during their stay in such a way that peace and quiet, safety and order are maintained. In particular, there must be disturbance, harassment or endangering of other pool guests or the neighbourhood. Please refrain from shouting or boisterous behaviour, so as not to disturb the Club's neighbours.

The pool area and the adjacent facilities, including the lawn and hedges and floral borders, are to be treated with respect and kept clean.

Children are very welcome to use the sports facilities available (football, basketball, table tennis, chess, badminton) on the hard court and the grassy area by the tennis building. Sports equipment may be obtained from the gatekeepers.

The playground may be used until 8.00 pm. Children have to be supervised by an adult.

All pool guests are requested to shower prior to using the swimming pool and are required to wear appropriate swimwear.

The use of water toys and water sports equipment (such as fins, aqualungs, snorkels) and of buoyancy devices is only permitted with prior agreement of the lifeguard. Use of goggles is at the user's own risk.

Jumping from the side of the pool is prohibited. Pool guests may not be pushed or thrown into the pool or pushed underwater.

Use of the swimming pool is reserved exclusively for swimmers. Children who have not yet obtained a "Seepferdchen" certificate may only use the pool when accompanied by at least one parent; this assumes that the parents remain with their child in the shallow area (for non-swimmers) of the pool. Parents must be aware of their heightened responsibility in such situations. The lifeguard can, if any of these rules are disobeyed, ban someone from using the pool; this applies especially in the case of not taking responsibility for children or causing a dangerous situation. Children under 14 years of age may swim until 7.00 pm (as an exception during the summer holidays until 8.00 pm).

Use of the pool may be completely or partially restricted for technical, safety or weather-related reasons, or for organizational purposes. For your own safety, please vacate the swimming pool immediately in the case of a thunderstorm.

We ask that you refrain from reserving poolside loungers for third parties. For reasons of hygiene, please cover lounger upholstery with towels. If required, towels can be purchased from the gatekeepers. Lounger cushions may be obtained from the lifeguard and must be returned following use.

It is the responsibility of the supervisory staff to ensure that the house rules are adhered to within the Club premises and in particular to maintain peace and quiet, safety and order in the pool area and adjacent spaces. Their instructions are binding and must be obeyed unconditionally. In the interest of maintaining an orderly running of the Club and thus in the interest of all members, the supervisory staff is authorized, and is hereby expressly instructed by the Board, to prohibit further use of the pool to anyone found to be in significant violation of Club or pool rules or any other instructions. In such a case, the Board reserves the right to deal with such violations by imposing further sanctions.

Club Rules for Junior Members

Socialising at the International Club Berlin should be a matter of mutual respect.

Please remember:

- To keep to the pool opening times (swimming allowed up to 19.00 hrs).
- Please respect the swimming rules – they are posted all around the pool area – (no jumping in from the sides, use of pool toys and games only in agreement with the life guard) and obey the instructions of the life guard.
- Please use water sparingly when showering in the changing cubicles.
- Please enter the Club House wearing suitable clothing (not in bathing suits).
- Please abide by the rules for the use of the tennis courts – they are posted in several prominent places.
- Please always leave the tennis courts in an orderly state, ready for others to play.

It is seen as a friendly gesture if Club members greet each other.
